Every year The Catholic Women’s League of Canada sponsors the Youth Awards Program for Catholic youth in our schools and parishes. These contests help build confidence in our Catholic youth and give them an opportunity to share their views and values on important Catholic teachings.
Below is a summary of the contests we encourage students to participate in:
Mary Dobell PRO-LIFE ESSAY & POETRY CONTEST
o Intermediate Level – Essay - Open to Grades 7, 8 and 9 students
o Intermediate Level – Poetry - Open to Grades 7, 8 and 9 students
o Senior Level – Essay - Open to Grades 10, 11 and 12 students
o Senior Level – Poetry - Open to Grades 10, 11 and 12
Contestants in their submissions will reflect on the dignity of life, how they see the sanctity or dignity of life being diminished in our current time and what can be done to promote the dignity of life.
Jean McCann SERVICE AWARD FOR YOUTH AGES 15 – 18
The student’s written submission will:
§ Describe involvement with family, school, community, parish, and other activities.
§ Explain how he/she uses his/her talents in witnessing to Christ.
§ Tell us about his/her plans and anything else that he/she wishes us to know.
UFT St. Michael's College Scholarship for a Catholic woman who wishes to pursue an Arts and Science degree. $3,000 scholarship this year. (These funds are from annual donations by CWL councils in Toronto).
