Email Scams

Please be aware that the Archdiocese has received multiple reports of fraudulent emails targeting our parishes, parishioners and departments. The scammers are posing as priests, Cardinal Collins and in one case, a bishop. In some instances, they are asking that the recipient email back in order to discuss a favour. In other cases, they are asking for gift cards. To protect against email scams, please change your email password regularly. If you receive a suspicious email from someone who is requesting gift cards or money, please contact them on a trusted phone number to ensure they actually sent you the message. No one from the Archdiocese of Toronto will ask you for gift cards. If the sender’s information seems odd or if the message is out of character for the sender, do not reply to the message.
